ToHN Daily: Sabres get Malcolm Subban, COVID cases climbing

Malcolm Subban traded to the Buffalo Sabres, more NHL players landing in COVID protocol, trade talks in Vegas and more.

The Buffalo Sabres, missing goaltender Craig Anderson, have decided that they need some help and will get that help from Malcolm Subban. The 27-year-old netminder has a .899 save percentage in 82 career NHL games. He had played five games for Rockford in the American Hockey League this season and had a .893 save percentage.

This does not feel like a major improvement for Buffalo, a team that has been going with the tandem of Dustin Tokarski and Aaron Dell in net. Tokarski was recently placed in COVID-19 protocol, though, so the league’s shakiest goaltending situation just got shakier.

Is Malcolm Subban the answer for that? Seems like a low-risk, low-reward kind of play for the Sabres.ac

Tokarski isn’t alone. These players have landed on the COVID-19 list just in the past week:

St. Louis

G Jordan Binnington

D Justin Faulk

D Brett Pesce

Detroit

LW Tyler Bertuzzi

Montreal

RW Brendan Gallagher

It’s not going great.
