ToHN Daily: Jack Eichel and Golden Knights a match made in Vegas?

The on-again, off-again Jack Eichel trade talks continue and it sure seems like the Vegas Golden Knights have the inside track right now. We are warned, however, not to sleep on Colorado or Calgary as other possible destinations for the high-scoring centre who is seeking a disc replacement surgery before continuing his NHL career.

Vegas: Talk of Jack Eichel to the Golden Knights is heating up. The Golden Knights also escaped with a shootout win vs. Anaheim.

Trade Talks: Jack Eichel, Vladimir Tarasenko and more forwards that could be on the move this season. (ToHN+)

Calgary: The Flames just went 5-0 on their recent road trip, setting them up for a bounce-back season.

Toronto: Morgan Rielly has signed an eight-year, $60 million extension with the Maple Leafs. That is a major commitment from the team as well as from Rielly. He could have earned more on the open market but chose to stay in Toronto.

Winnipeg: Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff will not be disciplined by the league for his role in the Chicago Blackhawks organization in 2010.

Pittsburgh: Sidney Crosby and Jeff Carter appear to be game-time decisions for Saturday’s game against New Jersey.

Florida: The Panthers earned an OT win in Detroit with Andrew Brunette getting a victory in his first game as head coach.

Carolina: Nino Niederreiter suffered a lower-body injury in Friday’s 6-3 win against Chicago.

Chicago: Tyler Johnson suffered an upper-body injury in the loss at Carolina.

N.Y. Islanders: Changes on the Islanders blueline are helping to bring better defensive results.

Detroit: The Red Wings lost to Florida in overtime Friday but there are still positives to take away from the result as the Red Wings have been a competitive side early in this season.

Washington: Alex Ovechkin keeps putting up points, and the Capitals shut out the Arizona Coyotes Friday.

New Jersey: Jack Hughes is out for at least five weeks with his dislocated shoulder.
