The on-again, off-again Jack Eichel trade talks continue and it sure seems like the Vegas Golden Knights have the inside track right now. We are warned, however, not to sleep on Colorado or Calgary as other possible destinations for the high-scoring centre who is seeking a disc replacement surgery before continuing his NHL career.

Calgary: The Flames just went 5-0 on their recent road trip, setting them up for a bounce-back season.
Toronto: Morgan Rielly has signed an eight-year, $60 million extension with the Maple Leafs. That is a major commitment from the team as well as from Rielly. He could have earned more on the open market but chose to stay in Toronto.

Carolina: Nino Niederreiter suffered a lower-body injury in Fridayโs 6-3 win against Chicago.
Chicago: Tyler Johnson suffered an upper-body injury in the loss at Carolina.
N.Y. Islanders: Changes on the Islanders blueline are helping to bring better defensive results.
Detroit: The Red Wings lost to Florida in overtime Friday but there are still positives to take away from the result as the Red Wings have been a competitive side early in this season.
Washington: Alex Ovechkin keeps putting up points, and the Capitals shut out the Arizona Coyotes Friday.
New Jersey: Jack Hughes is out for at least five weeks with his dislocated shoulder.
