Toronto Maple Leafs star centre Auston Matthews could have a different look by the end of next month, but it is going to be up to you.

Last Movember, Matthews pledged to shave his infamous moustache off – for a price. That price is $134,000 by the end of Movember, with funds raised going towards men’s health.

“It’s me, Auston Matthews,” he begins in his promotional video. “Some of you might know me as a professional ice hockey player, but most of you probably know me for my moustache.”

“This year, it’s time to take things more seriously. Help me raise $134,000 by the end of Movember and I will kiss this lip sweater goodbye.”

Matthews is raising funds supporting men’s mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

“We’re so excited to be working alongside Auston Matthews to raise vital funds for men’s health,” says Todd Minerson, Country Director for Movember Canada.“Auston’s moustache is iconic. When you think of the NHL and moustaches, it’s one of the first that comes to mind. This is why it’s especially exciting for us to have Auston willing to put that trademark Mo on the line to help us raise awareness and funds for Movember during a year when conversations around men’s health have never been more important.”

Matthews missed the first three games of the season while recovering from wrist surgery and has two points (1 G, 1 A) and 22 shots on goal through five games. The Maple Leafs pulled out a 3-2 overtime win at Chicago Wednesday.
