Cullen: 5 Takeaways from Toronto Maple Leafs’ 5-3 loss to San Jose (+)

Losing at home to a San Jose team that was on the second game of a back-to-back was a tough loss for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“San Jose, to me, is playing terrific team defence,” said Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe. “They are playing really well as a team and have lots of confidence. You can tell they are on their way here and really believe in what they are doing. So, to get behind in the game is not ideal for us.”

“It was a pretty dull hockey game all the way through, which is exactly what San Jose was looking for,” said Keefe. That is probably a compliment, even if it doesn’t necessarily read like one.

Sheldon Keefe might have thought the game was dull but he had some pointed words after the game.
