Toronto Maple Leafs, Wayne Simmonds

Wayne Simmonds got the Toronto Maple Leafs on the board early and that set the team on its way to a 3-1 win against Ottawa on Saturday night.

“There was a huge emphasis on starting fast and carrying it through the full 60 minutes, said Simmonds.

“I had no issue with our start in Ottawa,” said Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe. “But it was nice to score first.”

Keefe also noted that with goaltender Petr Mrazek expected to be out for a couple of weeks, that Michael Hutchinson will be joining the Maple Leafs to cover for that injury. Alex Bishop was an emergency backup for the Toronto Maple Leafs in Saturday night’s game.
